Bangladesh Betar :
Bangladesh Betar is the only state-owned radio of Bangladesh. It was launched on 16 December 1939 as ‘All India Radio’. It is former name was 'Radio Bangladesh' between 1975 and 1996. In 1996, the radio changed its name from ‘Radio Bangladesh’ to ‘Bangladesh Betar’. Currently it is the largest electronic medium in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Betar played a very significant role during the historic declaration of Independence of Bangladesh on 26th March 1971. The Radio is also familiar with its historical name ‘Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra’. The headquarters of Bangladesh Betar is located at Shahbag in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
It has 12 regional stations in Bandarban, Barisal, Chittagong, Comilla, Cox’s Bazar, Dhaka, Khulna, Rajshahi, Rangamati, Rangpur, Sylhet and Thakurgaon. Apart from news in Bangla, English, Arabic and Hindi languages, Bangladesh Betar also broadcasts many popular programmes based on audience’s requirements.
