Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ):
Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) is the only professional organization of the journalists in Bangladesh. BFUJ was established in 1950 as Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists. After emergence of Bangladesh, it renamed as Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ). As the sole professional representative body of journalists of media-print, electronic and online in Bangladesh; it endeavors to promote and protect freedom of press and expression, and works as a safeguard of the journalists in the country.
BFUJ came apart in 1991 “with the departure of a section of pro-government journalists”. However, this Federal Union of Journalists still have a very energetic voice for protecting and promoting journalists’ rights & interests in Bangladesh. It also works for development of media and freedom of press. BFUJ is a common platform of all the professional journalists. At present, over 3,000 members are linked up with BFUJ. It organizes seminars, trainings, symposium etc related to the subject of journalism. The President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) is Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Chief Editor of Boishakhi Television.
