Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB):

Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) is the only professional organization of the Crime Reporters in Bangladesh. CRAB was founded on 26th July 1986. The Association is specially based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is representing all the reporters who are particularly working in crime reporting in different newspapers, TV channels, radios and news agencies. Currently, there are more than 179 Crime Reporters are linked with CRAB.

Crime Reporters Association strives to promote professional expertise and skills of reporters. It also spends its effort to monitor and uphold the freedom of the reporters. CRAB raises voice against all kinds of crime and corruption. The Association works as a platform of all the Crime Reporters in the country to work together under one umbrella.

Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh regularly organizes training program, workshop, round table discussion etc for its members and reporters. It also launches a newsletter “CRAB BARTA” to bring out the activities of the journalism in Bangladesh. Every year, the Association offers awards to the reports who have excellent performance in crime and investigative reporting.

Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) is run by thirteen (13) executive members who are elected by its members annually. At present, CRAB’s president is Isaraf Hossain Isa, the Daily Sun, and general secretary is Quamruzzaman Khan, Bhorer Kagaj.
