Pathshala is a leading South Asian Media Institute situated in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Institute started its journey in the year 1998. Pathshala South Asian Media Institute was come into being by the dynamic initiative of Shahidul Alam, a Bangladeshi renowned photographer, writer, artist and media teacher. Today, the Institute is offering many short courses and few long courses related to the field of photography, broadcast and multimedia.

Currently, Pathshala has two departments – (1) Photography, and (2) Broadcast & Multimedia. Though, the Institute launched with Photography Department, the Broadcast & Multimedia Department opened on March 22, 2010. It admits students from both national and international arena. Pathshala’s many photographers have obtained international recognition.

Under the Photography Department, the Institute offers following Short Courses:
- Basic Course in Photography (Four-week)
- Foundation Course in Photography (Ten-week)
- Diploma in Photojournalism (Six-Month)
- Visual Storytelling Workshop (Four-week)
- Digital Photography Workshop (Three-Day), and

Long Course:
- Professional Program in Photography (Three-year)

The Broadcast & Multimedia Department offers following Short Courses:
- Motion Graphics and Animation (Three-Month)
- Video Editing (Three-Month)
- Cinematography/Camera Operations (Three-Month)
- Film Making (Three-Month)
- News & Program Presentation (Three-Month), and

Long Courses:
- Post-Graduate Certificate Course in Broadcast and Cross-Media Journalism (in collaboration with Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) and Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands)
